THE STANDARD

Discipline before analysis

The value of a training log comes from recording ordinary and difficult sessions—not only personal bests. I use the same units and definitions, preserve missing values, and separate what happened from what I think caused it.

  1. Record every planned session, not just strong ones.
  2. Use kilograms and the same exercise names.
  3. Write observations before interpretations.
  4. Leave unknown values missing rather than inventing them.
